Jean Michel Cousteau Visits Marine Harvest In May 2008

By invitation from Marine Harvest Canada, the son of famed underwater adventurer Jacques Cousteau visited Glacier Falls farm site in May, 2008.  Site manager Brad Marsili and Area manager Kelly Osborne were gracious hosts to Jean Michel’s team of “Ocean Adventurers”.  The team is producing a one hour adventure film about Orcas which is due out in 2009.  Mr. Cousteau spent over six hours at the site learning about the business of salmon farming.

Of course, the highlight was watching Mr. Cousteau SCUBA dive in our pen.  That was definitely a thrill for all watching.

Ian Roberts (Communications Manager) and Sharon Dedominicis (Environmental Sustainability Manager) provided comment for the film, discussing both the benefit and risk of salmon culture and salmon fishing on the BC coast.

As production roles on, we will keep you posted on the release date (to be aired initially on PBS).
