Floyd Cole: Passion and energy fuse

Floyd’s upcoming winter project is the restoration of the 1968 red Mustang he and his wife Bev recently acquired. It says a lot about him. The Area Manager for Port Hardy is a self-confessed “putterer” and welcomes a challenge.
“They get me up in the morning”, he said.floyd-cole
Originally from Newfoundland, Floyd Cole found his way to BC in May 1996 as a Fish Tech for what was then BC Packers. After progressing to Area Manager, Floyd and his Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology and Diploma in Aquaculture from Memorial University headed to Grieg. He eventually found an aquaculture home at Stolt and then Marine Harvest as Quatsino Area Manager, a position that underwent a name change and expansion of area in January.
Overseeing a total of 13 sites (six in Quatsino and seven in the Port Hardy area) involves a flexibility of skills and abilities. Whether it’s attention to human resources and managing people or ensuring consistently healthy fish, Floyd’s commitment to his people and fish is solid.
The father of two active children, Floyd spends as much time as possible with them and Bev when he’s not dividing his time between farm sites and the office, including the one in Port Hardy. He can often be found during his evening down time with a book, usually action-based thrillers by Robin Cook or Jonathan Kellerman.
For Floyd, Marine Harvest Canada is a neat place to work because “the company values their people and their families”.
